Old Manor House Posted by mickietje Date Posted: 09/07/2006
I never really believed in ghosts, witches, spirits or whatsoever.
When I reached the age of 23 something changed my mind however and now I will relay my experience.
I know it's sounds cliché but it started when I moved with some friends into an old manor house. The place really looked old but as an artist I immediately fell in love with it and so did my friends. There were 7 bedrooms so every one of us(5) had a big bedroom. Everything was great and we all loved spending our time there. Halloween and Christmas were so much fun to celebrate together in a place like that. But soon our laughter and joy disappeared.
Jim who lived with us brought his dog with him. Now one day he broke the neck of his dog for no apparent reason. We asked him why he did it, but he said it was just an accident. Well I saw him do it, he twisted the dog's neck until it cracked and it died immediately. I got so disturbed by seeing this but I didn't want to make Jim more upset by accusing him. So we buried the dog in the garden. But while we were digging we found a golden ring in the garden. This was strange because who puts a golden ring in the earth. Since the house was so old we researched and found out in some records that during the 19th century people who died were buried in their own yards. Because many people died, people were asked to bury the corpses themselves. So perhaps this was just remains of someone who had been burried here.
Everything changed after the death of the dog. Brendy who was one of us had an accident while she was cleaning the windows. The window she was cleaning came loose and fell out of it's frame, which threw her off the ladder. She had to go to the hospital as she was badly cut. She had many cuts and one of them was in the main artery in her neck. She made it luckily, but her speech has been changed due to this accident.
One evening I had to go to the basement to get some more wine for a party. When I entered the basement I felt a soft warm breeze behind me, but I didn't paid that much attention. I took some bottles of wine and when I went to walk upstairs, the door in front of me closed with a big smack. I thought the guys were playing jokes on me so I shouted that it wasn't funny and if they wanted more wine that they should open the door. I waited and pushed more than ten minutes. Eventually the door opened but no one was behind it. I still thought it was those crazy jerks, so I walked into the living area and they were all staring at me. It seemed like they were possessed or something, but then Jessica said:Hey Micky this is really not funny, how dare you? I was surprised and said come on guys, stop making a fool out of me.
No really, this isn't funny anymore. Then I saw them looking at my side, so I looked too and I saw that something was sticking on me. I pulled off my shirt and I saw that: YOU DIE was written on it. I immediately started shouting because I wasn't happy. At that point I was still convinced that someone was in the basement with me and wrote this on my shirt. But when Jessica said I'm out of here this is getting too much for me, it made me realize that something really wasn't right there. She left and we all had a fight and decided to end the party and go to bed.
I took a shower and went to bed immediately. I was asleep for about three hours when suddenly Thomas came in my room and said that we really should get out of the house. He saw something moving in the kitchen when he was getting something to drink. He said he didn't believe the whole story but it couldn't be coincidence. He said he saw something laughing and that the thing he saw, crawled through the hole in the laundry room door. I told him to go to bed as it was probably a cat which sneeked through the back door and wanted to find something to eat. So we went back to sleep.
The next morning the whole fridge was empty , not a single thing was left to eat. I really started to think that Thomas was the one behind it all. Especially when all the food was found in a box in the laundry room. But he got so frightened that he decided to move out the same day and go back to his parent's house. I thought that maybe if it really was him that everything would stop. But one evening Patrick was in the garden when he fell down on his face and broke his nose. In the clinic we asked him how he fell and he said he got pushed by something. But there was really no one else in the garden who could have knocked him down. He told me he felt that two hands had pushed him in the back.
Jim got paranoid and he's still in a psychiatric institution because he claimed he started seeing a girl, walking with his dog in the garden. He saw people everywhere in the house. Perhaps the stories made him mad, but there's really something wrong there.
So we all decided together to sell the house. On the day the sale had been made, I got fired and my grandmother died. I'm really not paranoid but all these things together couldn't be just coincidence. The house was sold to a rich local doctor and his wife, who were dedicated church visitors. But after they moved in that place to enjoy their retirement, they were not seen in the church anymore.
Perhaps they know the secret of that house. We just wanted to get out of there before it got too late for all of us. I now live alone in a small apartment. Everything seems fine and relaxed right now, but I still have the feeling something is not quite the way it should be. Visitor Rating:
