Angel in Disguise Posted by armedservice Date Posted: 10/30/2007
Hello my name is Sarah. I've read many of the stories submitted on this website and few can compare to the mystery of mine. Please read carefully as the story unfolds before your eyes.
The date was December 17th, 2004. I was in the Carousel Mall doing some last minute Christmas shopping with my friends. I was carrying several shopping bags. As I was going down the escalators and wearing shoes that lets just say weren't the best for heavy walking, my foot slipped out from under me. I screamed fearing for my life as I started to fall back, when this man caught me. He had the most beautiful brown hair and serious brown eyes, looking down on me it was as if nothing else mattered in the world. His clothes were a bit old fashioned but I just ignored that. He held me there until we got to the bottom of the steps and he helped me gather my bags and walk to the bench.
He said "Hi I'm Michael" but I was at a loss of words. One of my friends quickly chirped in She's Sarah, as I came out of a daze and laughed that would be correct I stuttered. Sorry I'm just a little bit shaken up. "Not a problem he laughed." It's the holidays, who's not a little flustered. We exchanged phone numbers and agreed that he would call me later about having dinner.
I of course finished my shopping and took the elevator this time. I left my friends and headed out for the 20 minute car ride home, "You've gotta be kidding me" were my first words when I saw the roads ahead. There had to be at least three inches of snow on the road mixed with sleet. A knock came to my passenger side window as I was about to pull out and it was Michael!
He quickly explained that he'd almost missed me and that his ride canceled on him and he was hoping I could give him a lift. I couldn't pass up this chance to talk to him so I agreed. When he told me his street address I must've looked a little shocked because it was almost three towns away. Well I just brushed it off and told him that's fine.
The ride was so silent it was almost creepy. About halfway there he looked into my eyes and said please stop the car. I started to protest but he said Thank you Sarah please take care and drive safe. He got out the passenger side door and I quickly climbed out the driver side door hoping for at least one kiss or a hug. But the snow was coming down soo hard it was impossible to see. I backed into a nearby driveway thinking about the strange man I had just met and then started back on my way home.
It was getting quiet in the car, almost scary quiet so I turned the radio on hoping to hear some Christmas Music to cheer me up. Instead I heard a news bulletin warning driver's that the main bridge had collapsed about twenty minutes ago. I stopped the car, sat back and realized I would've been on that bridge twenty minutes earlier if it weren't for Michael!
I sat there for what seemed like hours crying, realizing what all of this meant. Michael had saved my life and I had to thank him. So I turned the car around and went to the mobile station. I asked to use the payphone and they told me where to find it.
I put in 50 cents and dialed Michael's number. A woman answered the phone ( I assumed it was his mother) and I asked her if Michael was there. The line went silent before she said "Miss is this some sort of joke? Because I'm not the least bit amused!" Then I explained to her what happened and why I wished to speak with him. After I finished I heard a sigh and she said "Miss, Michael was my son and he died 12 years ago in a car accident. What happened to you tonight was a miracle" and I thought to myself... yes a Miracle in Disguise! Visitor Rating:
