The Stepmother

When Emma was a baby, her mother was murdered. The suspect was never found. Emma's father was very mournful, but he happily raised Emma by himself.

Years passed and Emma was nine years old with faded memory of her mother. One day her father met another woman, named Kelly Richard.

"Emmy, this my good friend, Kelly", her father said.
"Hello", Emma said with a smile.
"Same here", Kelly smiled back, but her smile faded as she sipped her coffee.

Does she hate me? Emma thought. Emma was always left home alone as her father always took Kelly to fun places. "I doubt they're just friends", Emma said to herself.

Three months later, Emma's father married Kelly. Emma wasn't so happy. She wished Kelly had never came into her father's life. Kelly had always been bossy and mean to Emma, when her father wasn't around.

"Did you clean your room, Emmy?", Kelly asked.
"I did", Emma answered.

Kelly walked in Emma's room and knocked down a shelf of books.
"Hey! What was that for?", Emma yelled.
"You make me sick. Clean this up!", Kelly yelled as she walked out. Emma sadly lifted the shelf and placed her books back inside.

"Kelly, what's for dinner?", Emma asked.
Kelly turned to Emma, "You get no dinner tonight. Go to bed!!!".
"But - "
"I said go!!", Kelly shouted as she stabbed the cutting board with a knife. Emma ran off.

"Dad, Kelly is so mean!", Emma said as she walked into her father's study.
"She's just stressed out", her father said.

One night the father had to work late so she stayed with Kelly in the house. Emma hid herself in her room until she got hungry. But she didn't want to come out. Then she heard scratching at her door.

It sounded like someone scraping a knife on the wooden door.
"Emma", Kelly said outside the door. "We need to talk."

The scraping continued.
"Come out, Emmy."

Emma stared at the door.
"Come out, you brat!!"

Kelly then stabbed the door. Emma ran to her window. Kelly stabbed the door so hard she created a hole. Her eyes were wild.

Emma screamed and opened her window. She jumped out and landed on a rose bush. She then ran as fast as she could. She could still hear Kelly yelling.

Emma tried to climb over a fence but she scraped her knee badly. Kelly charged after her, waving the knife in the air.

"You little good for nothing brat!! You remind me of Alice with those blue eyes and black hair of yours!! Alice never deserved to have a child with your father! She made my life so miserable by bullying me and stealing him away from me in high school!!I don't want to live with Alice's child!! I want my boyfriend back!! I'm going to get rid of you the same way I did to Alice,your mother!!".
Emma gasped.

All of a sudden they heard a gun shot. Kelly dropped to the ground. Emma's father was standing there holding a gun, watching Kelly die in her own pool of blood. Her father called the police and they took the body.

"I wouldn't want to marry a person who killed my late wife" her father said. "Did she...is she my mom's killer?", Emma asked.

"She was jealous of your mom in high school. But now Kelly is dead and I have a wonderful daughter to raise."

Emma and her father lived happily together by themselves, once again.
